Event Description:

MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT

As part of Pullen Park's pop-out winter programing, a Candy Cane Games day will be held at Pullen Park. An assortment of carnival games will be available to play for program registrants, and we need help running the games! The rules are simple; just step right up and we'll tell you everything you need to know!

Volunteer Duties:

Assist with carrying/wheeling various carnival games and minimal setup/breakdown of games. Volunteers may be asked to team lift games weighing up to 110lbs. Volunteers will each be assigned a carnival game to run. Volunteers will be responsible for engaging the guests, explaining the game rules to guests, monitoring guest play for safe behavior, and ensuring that no pieces of game equipment are broken or lost. Strong communication and guest interaction skills are required.

Volunteer Impact:

By volunteering to run a carnival game, you are helping provide winter programing to local families in our communities. Please help us spread some holiday joy this season!

Work Environment:

Work will occur outdoors with approximately 200 participants attending the outdoor program between 2pm - 6pm. Volunteers will be asked to push or carry pieces of carnival game equipment. The largest piece of equipment that volunteers might be asked to team lift is 110lbs. Restrooms are available on-site.

Volunteer Requirements:

Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. All volunteers must complete a release form. Those under 18 years of age will need a parent/guardian signature.

Other Instructions:

Please dress appropriately for weather in mid-December and wear layers. Volunteers may wish to bring a drink and snack. Park in the main lot for Pullen Park Amusements. Additional parking is available behind the Pullen Community Center as needed.

Please be aware that Nights of Lights at Dorothea Dix Park will occur on this day beginning at 6pm. Traffic on Western Blvd is expected to be impacted by Nights of Lights, and volunteers may wish to use the Hillsborough Street entrance to Ashe Avenue.

A free holiday movie will play on the event lawn after the carnival games conclude, from 6pm - 8pm. Volunteers are welcome to stay to watch the movie if they would like.

COVID-19 Policy:

Volunteers and staff must follow the COVID-19 policies below so that projects are safe for everyone.

Social distancing must be practiced (6-feet between individuals)
Masks/face shields are required for all volunteers (masks not provided)
Volunteers must participate in an infrared temperature check
State, federal, and local mandates must be followed
If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please do not register
If you are volunteering indoors you will be required to show proof of full vaccination

Thank you, and have a nice day!
